Who we are and what we do
Pico Rivera Express Plumbing handles emergency and planned plumbing for homes and small businesses in Pico Rivera, Montebello, Santa Fe Springs, Norwalk and Commerce. The work ranges from a clogged kitchen drain to a sewer line replacement.
We are licensed and insured. You can check any California contractor, including us, on the Contractors State License Board website before you hire, and we encourage you to.
Our dispatchers take the call, our plumbers do the work, and the same company stands behind the visit from first question to final test. That is the whole model, and it is deliberately simple.
What happens when you call
The process is simple and the same every time.
- 1
You describe the problem
Our dispatcher asks what you see, hear and smell, and whether water or gas is involved.
- 2
We give safe first steps
If water is escaping, we tell you where to shut it off. If you smell gas, we tell you to leave and call SoCalGas first.
- 3
A plumber is assigned
We book the next available plumber. Same-day appointments are offered when available.
- 4
You see the price first
The plumber diagnoses the problem and gives you a clear price before work starts.
Questions before you book?
Call and ask. We will explain how the visit works and what could change the price.
What we do not do
We are not a gas utility. If you smell natural gas, you leave the building and call SoCalGas at 1-800-427-2200 before you call us. We do not give phone diagnoses that replace a look at the pipes, and we do not promise an arrival time before we know where the nearest plumber is.
We also do not advertise prices we cannot stand behind. The price you hear comes after the plumber has seen the problem and before work starts, with the main cost factors explained in plain words.
How to check any plumber before hiring
This list works for us and for anyone else you are considering.
- Ask for the contractor's California licence and look it up on the CSLB website.
- Get the scope, materials and total price in a written contract, and expect changes to come as written change orders.
- Be wary of a down payment above 10 percent of the contract price or $1,000, whichever is less.
- Ask who will be on site and whether permits are needed.
- Keep photos and receipts for insurance.
These points come from the Contractors State License Board's guidance on home improvement contracts. A plumber who welcomes the questions is usually the right one.
Why local housing shapes how we work
Pico Rivera's median home was built in 1957 according to the Census Bureau's 2024 American Community Survey, and about 86 percent of its 17,352 housing units went up before 1980. Houses of that age have usually had pipes, valves and fixtures replaced in pieces over the decades.
That patchwork is why we look at the condition of the line around a failure before quoting a fix. A repair that holds beside a worn section only buys time, and you should hear that before you decide.
The same thinking applies in the neighboring towns. Montebello, Norwalk, Santa Fe Springs and Commerce all have a large share of pre-1980 homes, so the questions are familiar even when the streets change.

If you are comparing plumbers, ask each one what the visit includes, how the price is set and who is responsible if something leaks after the repair. Those three answers say more than any slogan.
